Wife texting gay male best friend

by James
(Greeley, Colorado)

My wife is constantly texting her male friend, whom is gay. She says I have nothing to worry about because he is gay, and I’m not worried about that at all.

The problem is, is that they text all day, everyday. From morning till night. We can’t even grocery shop without her face being in her phone the whole time. I am married to her, and feel like the 3rd wheel. I have met him, and he is clearly gay, but he treated me like a piece of crap. They go to lunch and hang out, but I’m never invited. She claims it’s because I don’t like him. Truth is, I just feel she talks to him more, and cares about him more than she does me.

Am I wrong to feel this way? Is this normal behavior, and I’m just old school? Please help.

"You gave us counseling without making either one of us feel that you were taking sides.
You always maintained your impartiality with us. You encouraged Rita to be more assertive in stating what she wanted to get from your counseling sessions, as well as what she wanted to get from the relationship.
You taught both of us better communication between ourselves, which lead to an emotional comfort level between us that didn't exist before.
You took control of the direction of the session if things were not moving along.
Thanks so much
for helping us."
