Marriage help

by Boab

I feel that my wife is very emotionally needy but never tries to improve her situation. Over the last few years I've tried to motivate her, get her some education, life skills and encourage her. Now all she does is play games on her phone, watch mind numbing tv shows and not achieve anything. She has also put on weight, doesn't exercise and doesn't eat healthily.

This is very frustrating for me because I'm the opposite of what she has become. I'd really like her to turn around her situation but I'm exhausted with her and don't know where to turn next other than to exit. Help please?

"You gave us counseling without making either one of us feel that you were taking sides.
You always maintained your impartiality with us. You encouraged Rita to be more assertive in stating what she wanted to get from your counseling sessions, as well as what she wanted to get from the relationship.
You taught both of us better communication between ourselves, which lead to an emotional comfort level between us that didn't exist before.
You took control of the direction of the session if things were not moving along.
Thanks so much
for helping us."
