Crazy

My wife of 25 years told me she slept with a black guy before we were married. 25 years in and she tells me. I can't get it out of my head. What do I do?

Spare any racist comments. I marched in BLM marches where I live. Now I can't stand seeing or hearing black people of any age or sex. I am traumatized by this news. Now I learn that she had multiple partners I had no idea about.

It's driving me nuts! we are in therapy and I'm talking to a hypnotist today. She knows how I feel, but loves me and is sticking by me. Any suggestions folks?

My opinion

If it was before you two met, then I don't think I'd worry about it. If it was why you were together it's completely different, I wouldn't be able to deal with that.

Infidelity is always difficult to deal with, and I’m glad you two are seeing a therapist. I hope it’s someone trained in couples therapy. As for your obsession over black people, I’m not sure a hypnotherapist will help. See you can find someone who is trained in this kind of reaction to trauma.

"You gave us counseling without making either one of us feel that you were taking sides.
You always maintained your impartiality with us. You encouraged Rita to be more assertive in stating what she wanted to get from your counseling sessions, as well as what she wanted to get from the relationship.
You taught both of us better communication between ourselves, which lead to an emotional comfort level between us that didn't exist before.
You took control of the direction of the session if things were not moving along.
Thanks so much
for helping us."
